To verify an address, MailCheck processes the email address (or a name + domain for the Finder) and performs DNS lookups and an SMTP handshake with the destination mail server. We retain the verification verdict, a confidence score and metadata (status, MX record, timestamps) so results can be cached and re-downloaded.
We store your account email, a salted password hash, your API keys and your usage history. You control your API keys and can revoke them at any time.
Verification results are cached for a configurable period to make repeat checks fast and to reduce load on destination servers. You can delete bulk jobs and their results from your dashboard.
Passwords are hashed with scrypt. API keys are random, high-entropy tokens. Self-hosted deployments keep all data inside your own infrastructure.
